Causey Arch
The world’s oldest surviving single arch railway bridge stands high above a wooded gorge. The arch spans over 100ft, stands 80ft tall and beneath it runs Causey Burn.
King Edward’s Bay
King Edwards Bay is a small sandy bay enclosed by cliffs and grassy banks and as such is an excellent environment for family use. The beach is at the foot of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, a historic site run by English Heritage.
Jesmond Dene Park
Jesmond Dene is a unique haven of peace and tranquility for the people of Newcastle. It is a narrow wooded valley that follows the river Ouseburn between South Gosforth and Jesmond Vale.
Mowbray Park
To the south of the Museum & Winter Gardens is the restored ornamental lake. The lake incorporates a fountain and cascade, providing an interesting and restful environment for visitors of all ages.
Aydon Castle
Almost completely intact, it is one of the finest and most unaltered examples of a 13th century English manor house.
